Hey Red ,
I looked up in an old motors manual and found that if you short out the field gen. terminal to ground it overides the voltage regulator and you end up overcharging thr battery .
They showed putting a condensor on the "A" terminal and ground to reduse noise .

I have been mowing my lawn with the "H" with a three point Saginaw hitch and six foot Woods mower .
Mow about 3 acres and its GREAT . Dont mess up the lawn with weaterworn "turf" tires . Tires are 15.5's about to rot apart . My "turf" tires .
