Yes, you are right on that. The 239 was built at the Neuss, Germany plant along with the 310 and 358 six-cylinder engines, which are more common in tractors. One warning on the German diesels: don't let them idle for a long period of time or they will carbon up. This happened to our 686 with the 310 and it got to the point where the muffler was so plugged with carbon that it wouldn't run with the muffler on (the 686 idles for about 20 min. each day while cleaning the barn). It's just somthing about them. They like to work hard and run hot. Put a new thermostat in yours right away and you'll be fine. Overall, they are very exellent, long lasting engines. I belive that the 239 was in 664 and 684 tractors.
