Hot Hydraulics

Well after two months of weekends I got my first tractor (Model C) operational. Drained and replaced all fulids, replaced hoses, points, plugs, etc. etc. Got a lot of good advice from this group. Well being really pleased with how the old tractor was running decided to have some fun and mow the pasture. After about 45 min of mowing I looked down and noticed that there was smoke coming from the hydraulic control box behind the batt and the movement of the levers didn't do anything with the rocker shafts. I took the tractor to the shed and lossened the fluid filler plug. Steam and boiling fluid came out. I let it drain and cool then I replace the plug and the rocker shafts moved again. I finished mowing the pasture without further incident. Question, Was it too full or is there another problem someplace to worry about?
