If it was me i would go the whole route and start with a valve adjustment then a new set of plugs , points and condencer cap rotor and wires, set the timing at idel and at full throttel then set into fine tuneing the carb, first set the idel and then start setting the idel mixture screw to the best setting that i could get then set the main screw to about four and a half turns off the seat. When setting the idel mixture screw keep backing off the idel stop screw till you get the best at the lowest idel then set the idel back to specs.
