Questions for Denny Frisk

I was reading through the forum arcives the other day, when I saw a post you made about building gas 686's when you worked at the Farmall plant. How many were made in all? Which engine did they have? I never knew there was such thing as a gas 686. Also, mabye you know what a six-pointed star following the serial # on 686's and 786's means. Our 686 and 786 have this. I suspect it means German Diesel. Thanks for any help-
