William, it's possible you may have a terminal touching a case or perhaps a wire was pinched when you put things back together, either is easy to do without realizing it. Are there a lot of sparks or just a little? If it's just a little, you may have let the light switch on and turning it off may cure the sparks. Did the tractor originally have a voltage regulator or a cutout relay? If it had a cutout you may be backfeeding into the voltage regulator.
