Has anyone torn into a Behlen P.S. Unit

Hey Everybody,

I'm rebuilding my Behlen power steering unit for my 300 row crop. I had the main shaft remachined and am going to replace all the o-rings, seals, and gaskets. My question relates to the two springs that go in the end of the main (control) shaft that are used to push out the two balls inside the unit. The parts book says that you need to use two springs. I don't see how you can get two springs to fit in the end of the shaft. In that area the shaft is an inch and a quarter in dia. and the springs are an inch long, plus the balls are 7/16 in dia. Has anyone out there had any experience with this? Any help, suggestions, tips etc. would be greatly appreciated.
