PJ at this point you might as well drop the oil pan and unbolt the oil pump just to get it out of the way. Look at the position of your crank and see if you can remove a couple of rod caps. I used a long pipe, a 12 ton jack and a stand to push #2 and #3 piston/sleeve assemblies up about 1/2 inch. I can't pull them out until I can get the crank to reposition so the rods aren't hitting the side of the cylinder wall. Right now I have two jacks pushing on #1 and #4 pistons/crank. They are in an awkward position so I cannot get a wrench on the upper bolts to remove the rod caps. So far I am making no progress on #1 and #4. Old Rusty also has M&W pistons. We think that this one got stuck not too long after it's last rebuilt. That last rebuild may have been 20 years ago. It is badly stuck. Note how I use the 3/8 inch log chain as a counter force so you are not raising the tractor but actually putting force to the bottom of the pistons. If you try this technique, keep in mind that chain could break and it will fly if it does!!!!!!!!!!!

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
