Buck,
I think you might be looking at the Block Casting Number.
The numbers you give are confusing. The 8-264 is probably 'C-264'. Could your 356980PL acutally be 356980R1?
The tractor serial number is on an ID Plate on the left side of the Clutch Housing. On a standard Super M, the serial number will look something like-- SM12345 Kent
