You can also use an alternator. Get a one wire type that has the regulator in the alternator. You can get a rebuilt one at a Starter/Generator shop relatively cheap. Only need to run one wire from the alternator to the ammeter. You will have to make a bracket for the alternator or the shop where you get it may have a universal mounting bracket you can use. Like Red says, you will have to change your light bulbs to 12 volts. Also, make sure you get the smallest pulley possible on the alternator. The A engine does not turn fast enough to make the alternator start to charge unless you have the smallest pulley. I still have to manually pull the rod that goes from the governor to the carburator to race the engine to get the charging to start. This is both on my A and my C. Once it's started, it will charge at lower RPM.
