On a 400/450 there is a 1/4 inch thick adapter plate between the engine and clutch housing. The side rails bolt though this and into the clutch housing. Bolt your supports to the side rails, block the engine and then after you separate the clutch housing I slipped the bolts back through the 1/4 plate and the side rails. This supports the engine and you can remove the blocking under the engine. I put heavy duty piviting 6 inch wheels on my supports so I could roll the engine and front end around. Of coarse I did have a wide front to. If your supports are about 45 degrees of the frame rails I think it would still give you enough stabilization for a narrow front end.
