If you are sure it is an electrical problem make sure the 12V wire to coil is not intermittent. Check all the connections, wire and switch. Also check the points and condenser. Points can get bad and act really strange. Don't file them, get new ones if bad. Check the distributer cap and rotor to make sure that connection looks good. Is the battery or are you jump starting it - make sure you have enough battery voltage. If battery is really bad it can stall at idle speeds.
