Hey Mark I happen to own one of those little jewels. I live in Ohio and most go for 1800 to 2800 depending on running cond. and attachments. They are about 14hp and handle a 5ft mower just fine if the grass isnt too high. Havent owned mine for long but it had a knock under load. rod bearings were bad. Make sure engine doesnt smoke. Blue is oil and white usually means water is getting into engine. I would mow with it for awhile to check for leaks in seals or gaskets and listen for a miss or knocking in the engine. Is sheet metal good? What about tires? Also check bearings in the mower deck? Hope this helps. ange
