All three outlets, the two on one side and the one on the other side are pressure outlets. The rod that operates the system has three positions. All the way forward is release or down, middle ways at the detent stop on the bottom of the rod is hold and all the way back is lift. It is a one way system, meaning that th fluid flows back due to the weight of the implement when you release. Therefore one side of the cylinder is just vented and one hose runs to the end you need pressure for lifting. Some of the old cylinders were pipe type cylinders and did not even have the usual cylinger and piston. just a rod with a sleeve over it that was connect to the implement to lift. If you want a 2 way system, you will have to add a control valve with a return to the fill opening of the lift all. You then run the supply line from the lift all to the valve and the two lines from the valve go to the cylinder and the lift all is locked in lifting position all the time.
