The 504 diesel engine was a D-188. Those other engines you mention are BD-154, D179, and D206. The reason serial numbers are important is that there is a serial break for the sleeves, pistons, and fuel system. The number you give for the engine serial number appears low for a 1967 model. The difference in the sleeves were that the 1966 and on tractors had tighter fitting sleeves. The early sleeves often were loose and used to crack from the vibration. The late style sleeves were harder to get in and if the mechanic wasn't careful not to apply too much force, they often got broke during installation. From my own experience, what worked for me was to warm the bore up first using the rosebud tip on your cutting torch, and then put the sleeve in some dry ice and then quickly and carefully push it down by hand until the lip at the top bottoms out. However someone else may have a better and safer way way. Dry ice is an asphyxiant and you shouldn't use it unless you are familiar with it and aware of the asphyxiation potential in non ventilated areas.

"Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
