Of 3 M's I have with fenders, one has no extensions, one has 1-1/4" long pipe extensions around the mounting bolts to raise the fenders, and one has 1-1/2" long pipe to raise the fender with 3/8 by 4" plate to offset the fender. Fender is offset the same as the bolt dimension, about 2-3/4", so the fender is 5-1/2" out from its mounting holes. Bracket has 8 holes all evenly spaced, and inner holes on fender are 2-3/4" outside of outer holes on axle. The 3/8 plate makes for a sturdy bracket. 1/4 might be a little light, and 5/16 might be OK.
