I have used one for years on my Woods rotary mower. As several other have said it just connects to the tractor PTO shaft and you connect the implement to it. I had to shorten my mower PTO shaft by about 2 inches to accommodate the extra length. It worked fine after that. I bought mine from Tractor Supply co. years ago and it was about $50.
