one thing a lot of people over look is to make sure you get all the gear lash taken up before you set timing. If you pull all the plugs out and roll the engine around until you get on the compression stroke on #1 cyl, and then go VERY slowly until you have the timing mark lined up it should be ok. If you roll the engine backwards to go back to the mark if you pass it up you will be setting the timing a little off because of the play in the timing gears. Before I put on the mag ,if I have had it off, I put my hand on the governor side of the coupler and make sure the slop (if any)is taken up.Then I put in the bolts on the coupler. My tractors are older than an H (I have a 10-20 and an F-12)but I have an idea they hook up simillar.
