The belly pumps for a H work pretty well if they are in good shape. They need 30 wt oil to work properly. You can add a valve to get down pressure. My M has one - the only problem is it requires two hands to work. The biggest drawback to a belly pump is its not live and may not have enough oil capacity for a large cylinder. You can add a live pump from a 300 which attaches between the distributor and the engine. IH had one and M & W had one - they are slightly different. They require a heavier cam gear and a different plate that goes on inside the timing cover. I thing a mag needs a different drive from a distributor. With one of these pumps people usually use the belly pump as a oil reservoir.
