I also have a 300 Utility. As for the oil coming out of a cover to the front of the transmision. There is only one large cover in the front half of the transmision housing. This housing has the TA unit, TA clutch and the main clutch inside the starter also bolts to it. Your steering gear box bolts through this cover. If this is where oil is coming out then I would say your transmision is way over full. Also the gasket under that plate is defective. You don't want to get oil into your TA clutch either. There is a drain hole on the belly side under the TA clutch compartment, make sure this is clear. There is a square head 1/2 inch pipe plug on the side of this housing for checking the oil level. Take this plug out and let the excess oil drain out.
