It all depends on the machine shop in your area, if you can find someone familiar with IHC engines, take it there. Buy the Blue Ribbon Service Manual for the C-60 through C-281, available from Binder Books, read it and then decide if the job is right for you. Use the information in the manual to ask questions of the machine shop. If you can establish a good working relationship with the machine shop, they will help you by answering all kinds of questions. Be sure to let them buy the overhaul kit and other parts as needed. With a little research, patience, and about $600, you can do the job CaseIH would charge over $1500.
