I picked up a new holland 68 baler a week or so ago and baled some wheat straw the other day using my F-12. The power was there to run it ok. I did have to pull it in low gear but I was also pulling a hay wagon behind the baler. I did find out that the wooden bearings on the plunger(hard maple slides) were wore out and the plunger knife was over 1/4 inch away from the stationary knife. What came out was banana shaped bales! The knife was not cutting and was pulling in extra material and it ended up on the right side of the bales.I just called a NH dealer and the wood bearings are still available for $19. each. My advise would be to look closely at the baler you are thinking about and check out the adjustments. If they are adjusted all the way over and things are still loose, then the baler may be ready for complete overhaul. Check the chain adjustments and also look at the adjustments for the plunger slides. It can be loose side to side and top to bottom. A sloppy baler will make sloppy bales. I am going to go ahead and rebuild my NH 68. When I am done sinking cash and making some new parts, it should last me another 45 years like it did the original owner with very little future repairs. (I hope anyway!)

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
