Saw 7 touch water in 15 minutes on Lake Champlain about a week before Thanksgiving in 99. They would form about 3 miles out and head in following the cloud line from northwest to southeast and touch water about a mile out. They would only touch for about half/3 quarters of a mile and then break up 400 yards off shore. Got totally soaked from 2 of them and made the Jeep shudder. Utterly amazing here in Vermont where there is one confirmed tornado every other decade or so. Got confirmation from the Ferry Captain that was headed in from Essex, New York. Cold, blustery November day. Not the kind of weather that spawns spouts...
