There should be an aluminum tag on the "firewall" just under the large fuel tank. If all you see there is two holes or two rivits then you can look for a raised pad cast into the left front side of the engine block.it is close to the water inlet elbow. It should have the original serial number stamped into it if the engine was never changed.You may have to scrape it off good to see the numbers.
