I'm coming into this one late. The fluid foaming implies you have an air leak in the suction line to your pump. This could be anywhere from the inside of the reservoir to the flange of the pump itself. The situation would be aggravated if the suction screen was clogged as well. My 300U had a piece of rubber hose in the suction line that was collapsed internally, which starved the pump and caused a similar problem. If your machine has its original lines intact, you shouldn't have this problem. Note that the suction screen is the only filter in this hydraulic system, and it's not very good. I actually added a high pressure filter to the pressure line, and the system works much better.
