Soda Ash is sodium carbonate, not sodium hydroxide or lye. Lye/sodium hydroxide is a much stronger caustic than is soda ash. Soda ash is commonly used to increase the ph in swimming pools. It is available anywhere swimming pool chemicals are sold, usually called "ph+" or "ph up"
