If it is cracked behind the carburetor, then likely someone let it freeze up due to no or low antifreeze. That is where they crack. It can be repaired. Lot's of them running with these cracks. It can be welded, or the resin repairs mentioned by Gene B can be used. If welded, it requires someone that knows what they are doing, but it will run for years cracked like that. I used a Super A for 8 years to mow my yard with a belly mower. It was cracked like that and welded. It was sold to a guy to use to cultivate tobacco. It would not surprise me if it is still going and that was 15 years ago.
