The seat is listed incorrectly the seat is actually a post 1939 seat assembly. The seat pan is correct for an early tractor, but looks urepairable. The hols around the outside are for the cushion, because on the early tractors 39-40 or possibly later, the cushion would attach to the pan by a set of rivits. Here is a picture of the correct seat assy for the 1939 and early 1940 H and M tractors:
