Hi jmyt_47 , its kinda late for me to try the math but here goes. i'm assuming your hitch has two cylinders and your 2" x 8" cyl. has a 1" dia rod and is being used with rod pointing down. if not, the following is %#$@. if you want to slow lift to 3 seconds, you will need a flow control that will throttle down to 3.2 GPM. if you go with genes suggestion, it will slow down and give you greater lifting ability. to throttle down a 3 x 8 cyl with a 1.5 inch rod to 3 seconds, you will need a flow control that flows 7.34 gpm. but be warned. if your pump does not have a built in pressure relief valve and you throttle the flow, you may overload something (engine, clutch, hydraulic hose etc.) feel free to e me more detailed info if you would like me to run the math.
