Sue the M series used the same water pump from 1939-1952 so no problem there. Check to see if a plate is riveted on the cast iron underneath the oil bath air cleaner. If it is, post that serial number and we can tell you the year. If it is missing, there is also a serial number on the engine under the #1 spark plug (plug closest to the radiator).

What is wrong with your M's waterpump? They can be rebuilt without too much hassle.
