Just finished another day of brush-hogging with a Farmall 200 - which is just a Super C with different trim. Yes, they can handle a dull 5 footer in most all conditions, maybe even a 6 footer in less demanding conditions. I'm mowing off about 60 acres of old hayland with grass, weeds small brush and even a little alfalfa. Son is using a '49 JD B and a pull behind 5 foot hog, and they are just about neck and neck under every condition. (2nd gear full throttle on the Farmall vs 3rd gear full throttle on the Deere) The 40 horsepower is probably the MAXIMUM the manufacturer recommends for that gearbox. PS: Do not expect a finish mowing job from a brush hog!
