You might take a look at some fuel additives. There is a drain plug at the bottom of carb that can be opened so gas will drain. If fuel line is turned on it will drain most of the gas out of tank. The gas line sticks up into the tank a little bit above the valve so this probably won't drain the tank completely and draining the gas this way very much might damage the paint on carb and other areas exposed to the leaking gas. Simply turning gas off and letting the engine burn the gas out of the carb ussually don't take to long. Choking is ussually a must to get a quick fire up when this is done. Leaving tractor sit for long periods of time without running is not necessarily good for the machine. Seals get dry, bearings get empty of oil, sleeves and rings get dry, the coolant isn't circulated, and the battery ussually ends up dead. I think a tractor is alot better off if it is atleast started up from time to time even if it isn't run for very long. If I was you I would keep a minnimal amount of gas in it and fire it up say once a month.
