I'd say your problem is your carberator float. There can be several things happen here. You could have a leaky needle valve, you could have the fuel level set wrong, your float could be sticking in a certain position, or your float could have a whole in it allowing gas to enter the float allowing it to sink raising your fuel level in carb. This would allow your fuel to be on the rich side while tractor is running and then runs out the carb after shutting tractor off. I have never had valve trouble when this happens but it will sure make tractor not run right. I have also had trouble with this the other way around where the foat and needle valve stick closed not allowing gas to enter the carb. I think the needle valve is what sticks shut when this happens. Symptems are the tractor runs the carb out of gas and then dies. After fixing this you should be able to figure out plug and valve problems real easy.
