The road gear for the H was plenty fast for the tractor. That is one way of checking out the mechanical shape of the tractor. It has to be in pretty good running order and have a good clutch in it to really go to the races in the road gear. I have noticed that this is one real good way to see if the clutch is slipping. If the clutch is not slipping then your engine is not up to snuff. Ussually if the clutch is not slipping the tractor will start missing on a cylinder when it is under a pull. Is your tractor missing when under a pull? If you have a compression problem in a cylinder this would cuase loss of power. I am just supprised that it don't start missing when under a load. You can check compression by taking a compression guage and with the proper fittings you can screw it into your spark plug holes and turn tractor over and then read the guage to see what compression is. Do this to all 4 cylinders and compare the readings to each other. I am not sure what the compression poundage should really be but you should be able to find that in a repair manual somewhere. Check the clutch for slipping and then compression and then give us some more information on what it is doing if you don't get it figured out.

We thought we could get by with this since the engine ran perfectly and would not need any internal work. After the cleanup and painting was done, we began reassembly and finally came to t
