We had a 1066 turboed at 225 or 230 horsepower, and it had more power than we needed so we went down to 180. We used half the fuel, and had no performance difference. That had the DT414, and if you have the DT407, you're overloading that engine. You can save a heck of a lot of fuel and go easier on your engine, transmission, and TA if you tweak it down to about 160 or so, depending on what you are using it for. The 1206 was a little heavy on the fuel to start out before they got into the 56's, like a 1256, and changed the fuel pump. I don't know how long it would last like that, but I know you're calling for an overhaul well before it would probably need one. Let me know what you decide.
