Rear rims on H

After finding and purchasing my grandfather's old "H", I find that I'm going to have to replace the rear rims which are in very bad shape from calcium chloride leaking all over them for years. My manual says it takes a 10x38 rim. A fellow told me he could get me new 11x38 rims and that 1 inch shouldn't make much difference. The tires look almost brand new, but I forgot to look at the size. Would I be on safe ground buying the larger rims? Or do I need to know the current tire size before making that decision?
