You are right that the W9 tanks are difficult to handle. I did mine this past spring by taking the tire and rim off of my Ford 861 and used 2x4's to attach the W9 tank to the wheel of the Ford. Put limestone and Tide in the tank and let her spin away. Seemed to work OK.
