You can replace about anything in the H transmission without splitting the tractor. If you can get a copy of the I&T repair manual for the C, H,M etc. it will give you a pretty good idea whether or not you want to try it yourself. It's not hard to take the seat & deck off the trans and rear end, then you should be able to see what's broken. Since the hyd. quit it's probably the forward end of the bottom shaft, but I don't think just that would make reverse unavailable. Hard to know till you get it apart. I was amazed at all the stuff I found wrong in mine; Lord knows how it kept going all those years with that much broken. Good Luck, Wm
