You have asked a very interesting question...Thanks for phrasing it so well. The first answer is...at 15, it's hard to win an arguement with your Mom. :-( The second is...I'll bet there is not an agreement within this group on the correct answer. The tractor will cool better if it is run at higher RPM and lighter load in the lower gear. But... The Cub cools so well that I often spend a lot of time as I did last weekend at a show, just toodlling along at very low RPM in 3rd gear. I suppose the higher RPM she likes is most harmful to the operator's and spectator's ears. It will be interesting to see the answers you get!

My vote is on your side for less wear, as long as there isn't any serious load or heating involved, and the oil pressure stays up.
