Dick and I seem to agree on most things, but it has been my experiance that most 10-20s around here in Indiana don't have PTO shafts.It could be that most farmers here jumped on the farmall regular/F-12/F-20/F-30 bandwagon early in these parts. I have 3 10-20s and only one has PTO. That was one reason I bought that tractor as it is in very bad shape. I have only seen 3 other ones at shows with PTOs and two of them had different setups than the one I have.I can send you a picture of one that was at the IHC collectors national meet in Lebanon last winter that has an extension with a u-joint like thing attached. it looks like it was made to keep the driveshaft from rubbing the rear platform.I do not have anyidea if it was original or not or was made up by someone.If it was made by someone , they were good! I was talking with a guy at Rushville IN Pioneer Engineers Club show last weekend and he had 3 10-20s there at the show. One of them had PTO and had the back part of the platform cut off to clear the shaft.The platform on my parts tractor is not cut off. We were trying to think what implements they had back then to run off PTO. All we could come up with was a pull type corn picker.After I got home I looked in my books and saw they had a PTO grain binder, a PTO potato digger,and what appears to be a pull type PTO 1 row corn picker.I would be interested if anyone knows of other machines that were made in the late 20s with PTOs.The tractors I am talking about are all built around 1927-1930. I am sure more 10-20s built later had PTOs.One thing is for sure, the 10-20 PTO shaft is very high up and it might be hard to get anything modern to work well with it and have the Ujoints stay in good shape for very long. The rated RPM for the PTO on a 10-20 was 543 RPM.(by the way, no I do not want to sell the PTO shaft off my parts tractor. I may find a potato digger for it someday!)
