Bob Dave A word of caution here. Lets say that all 12 volt coils are not created equal. There are 12volt coils ment to be used with a external inline resistor and there are (true) 12 volt coils with internal resistor that need no external resistor. If you intend to purchase a new coil it will be good to tell the parts man what your application is. The addition of the resistor to the present coil is not a bad method untill the present coil goes bad. If a 12 volt coil ment to be used with external resistor is used without a resistor its life will be greatly reduced.
