The switch is internal in the magneto. You stop the engine by retarding the spark the whole way.
The little cover below the distributor cap that has an arm on it that moves
up and down controls the spark advance (ignition timing). Moving the arm the whole way up retards
the spark and shorts out the points. Hope this helps.
