Skip, this isn't a serious remedy for your tractor but I thought of this when I read your posting. My dad said that years ago if a car had a whine in the manual transmission or the rear end people would put sawdust into them. The sawdust would mix with the oil and run between the gear teeth quieting down the noise and whine. I don't know how long it would quiet the noise but apparently it would work long enough that you could get rid of the vehicle to some unsuspecting soul. Seriously there was a discussion about this in the last few weeks and ther should be some answers for you in the archives of this discussion board. Good luck from Mike in Exeter Onatrio
