Picture 47 shows the brake band in the unbraked position. Note the angle on the arm with respect to the top of the brake cover housing. Also note the pad is totally gone on Old Rusty!

Picture 48 shows the brake band in the approximate braking position. Note the arm is basically horizontal with the top of the brake cover housing.

Note how the brake lever (assembly that the band pins to) is positioned. The right and left levers are different so it is easy to get them on the wrong housing!!
