Larry - Like Jim states below, the IHC pump replaces the spacer between the timing gear housing and the distributor. You can reuse your original IHC distributor without modification - no need to switch to the Delco vertical distributor so long as you have the IHC pump. A couple tips: 1 - Set the crank position to TDC #1 cyl firing before removing the distributor. Then mount the distributor onto the back side of the hyd pump. Finally set the pump drive gear so the rotor button is centered under the #1 nipple on the dist cap when the pump gear is fully meshed with the timing gear. If you do it right the dist will be correctly timed when you are finished. 2 - One of the pump flange mounting cap screws is slightly shorter than the rest. Be sure the short one goes in the hole directly under the pump. (If you put a long one in there the end of the screw will bind against the back of the cam gear - not good!) 3 - It's easiest to install the pump with the hose inlet/outlet manifold block removed. Once the pump is bolted up, mount the manifold block and hoses. Be sure the O-rings are in place and the mounting faces are absolutely clean before fitting it up. Hope this helps...
