If the bucket cylinders have packing nuts on the ends where the ram comes out, try loosening them a little. This should let any trapped air out past the packing. If the cylinders have vents in the outer ends, check them for being plugged or stuck closed. Otherwise, you'll have to loosen the hoses at the cylinder ends to bleed the system.
Make sure the fluid is the correct type too if it was changed after the new pump was installed (it should've been changed then). Also, make sure the reservior is full. Low fluid could cause the problem you decribe, it's done it to me on my M/3-point when the cylinders were leaking.
