Wayne ,there is material available for hot rodders to insulate fire walls ect. It looks like tin foil but is heavier and layered with a heat resistant filling. It's about 3\8 thick and will do the job. Any rod shop will likely have it. I also wondered if a heating contractor might have some asbestos cloth, although he's not supposed to use asbestos anymore. The rod shops have cloth heat shields for wrapping header pipes..might do the trick too. Good luck from MIke in Exeter Ontario
