Take a wire and briefly touch the bat. terminal on the voltage regulator and the armature post on the generator. Some folks, including myself just touch the gen and bat posts on the voltage regulator. There have been comments made that you can possibly damage the regulator with this procedure. I have never had a problem but maybe I have been lucky.
