When we restored our super H we totally tore it down, it was a transmission housing sitting on jack stands with the rest of it in piles scattered around the shop. It was our first paint job/restoration and it turned out good but it was a huge job. You say you haven't painted a tractor before, below is a link to a site that sells a pretty good painting video, I bought it after painting a few tractors and still learned alot from it. It is aimed towards painting cars so not everything is applicable to a tractor, mainly some of the prep work but it would be well worth the $35 if you are new to painting. I learned more from the video than my high school autobody class. It would be best to pull the frame rails off one at a time, you can paint them on the tractor but I have yet to see one that wasn't full of dirt and oil. On the other hand you will be the only one who will be able to tell if they were painted or not. Figure how long it will take and triple that, the difference between a poor paint job and a great one is in the prep work and materials, I know it is easy to get excited when you are close to painting but trust me getting in a hurry always comes back to haunt you later. If you have any questions ask here or there is also a painting forum at the link below where you can ask guys who paint for a living.

We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
