I went to an auction that had alot of old time stuff on it. The guy was a packrat and had been around forever. They sold sears catolog's from the early 1900's and about 100 years worth of junk if you know what I mean. He even had a 1915 Ford model T car that had been converted into a truck and stored in a shed after it quit running in the 30's, well you get the picture. He had several F-12's and F-14's and it looked like when each one quit running, he would work on it for awhile and then eventually go buy another one. All of these units had items missing like manifolds, carbs, mags, and so on. I watched all the tractors sell and there was collectors there from all over the U.S. and I thought the tractors sold pretty high. Right after they sold the tractors, the auctioneer's went back to the wagons and started selling off of them. Small items you know. While all these big tracter collectors were scratching there heads, figuring out how they were going to get there tractor loaded, I had something else in mind. Yep, I was looking over the items they were selling off the wagons. They sold quit a little stuff, and then they unburried all those parts that was missing from those old F-12's and F-14's, mainly just the magnito's. Well you know, those old F-4 mags will fit on a number of machines. I sat there and bought those mags for $10 a piece. I sat there bidding and looking down yonder at those guys giving there tractor a second look, and yes I did have a little grin on my face while the auctioneer couldn't figure out what was funny. I find it even more funny when I look in magazines and so on seeing those mags advertised rebuilt for $200 a piece. Well I guess I am just mag equiped for all those 1930's machines. I'll find some of these old relics to put them on. If I don't find them cheap I can wait. I got nothing but time. I just thought the whole situation was a little comical.

The soil is a rich dark brown and is well looked after. unlike some areas in the midlands it is also fairly flat, broken only by hedgerows and the occasional valley and brook. A copse of wildbreaking silver birch and oak trees surround the top si
